“What did you just say?
Did I hear you right?
Did you just say that I am insensitive, simply because I have been on Instagram for the last 40 minutes or so? Really?
It’s Saturday morning for crying out loud. Does being married mean I can no longer relax and get some online social break?
How does that translate to being insensitive….?”
Maybe a better question to ask is:
“What changes after a person says ‘I do’?”
Have you given serious thought to what demands come with married life?
What constitutes the ‘new normal’ after one gets married?
If you’re engaged, contemplating marriage soon, or even if you’re already married, let’s talk about this.
THE DEMANDS OF MARRIED LIFE:
First, you will have to work hard to build connection with your spouse. After you say I do, you will have to forge the connection with your spouse consciously. You will have to work at staying together. Work at living together successfully.
How do you do this?
- By being vulnerable.
Total openness and honesty.
Total transparency; a life of no secrets. When you signed the marriage certificate, you signed to be open and honest with your spouse. You need to ask yourself how much of my heart do I share with my spouse?
Being vulnerable with each other is what brings you closer and helps you build that connection that is crucial to staying happily married. Being vulnerable births trust and mutual respect in your relationship.
“Honesty is the highest form of intimacy.”
If you want to be trusted, be honest, open and truthful.
To be continued…
