Sometimes when in my husband’s company I observe that he’s pensive and kind of zoned out in deep thought, I tease him by saying “A penny for your thoughts!”

To this, he always responds tongue-in-cheek “A penny? Nah. I’m sorry but my thoughts are not that cheap.”😁😂🤣

Cheap or not, our thoughts play a significant role in how our relationships play out.

The tendency is to let your thoughts run riot by indulging them in every way. Allowing your thoughts to go unchecked will be terribly inimical to a flourishing relationship with your spouse.

This is the concluding part of my Newsletter on the all-important subject of Compromise in marriage.

Having explored the need for it as well as what it looks like in marriage, I would like to dwell on some other vital aspects of Compromise between couples.

I am a morning person. I go to bed early and wake up quite early. By 8 am on any given day, I would have been awake for a couple of hours, and gotten so much work done. I would have communed with God, set my day in order, and done some reading or writing.

My husband on the other hand is a night owl. His best hours are the night season. We realized early in our marriage that we would have to meet each other halfway regarding our times of focused interaction like praying together, discussing, planning together, etc

Looking back I am thankful for so much, not least of which is my marriage and family.

I have discovered that in the journey of life, nothing trumps the deliberate effort at growth and personal development.🤔

For me, the last six months have been a season of growth. Learning. Unlearning. Relearning.

I have done quite a lot of reflection in recent times, particularly in the wake of the recent bereavement of a dearly beloved one.
